Her whole public persona is chaos. The actual path underneath it is one of the most disciplined you'll hear on this show.In this episode of Everyday Conversations, Amin sits down with Bettina BCB — a British recording artist based in LA who invented a genre she calls "drill pop" because nobody else was making it. In this conversation: choir to an all-girl metal band to drill pop, mentorship from the team behind Rihanna and Coldplay, and what it actually costs to break into music from a working-class background.🎙️ In this episode:- The all-girl metal band she was in as a teenager — and what that version of her would think of who she is now- How "drill pop" (UK drill beats, pop melodies) came together mostly by accident, through trial and a lot of "duds"- Being mentored by Stargate, Jenna Andrews, and Rami Yacoub — and the one lesson about criticism that stuck- "Messy Girl" — the single she wrote as a direct answer to the gossip about her- What growing up working class in the UK actually costs someone trying to break into music- Chaos within discipline — her own answer to the question of which one is the real her💬 "Chaos within discipline is my actual answer." — Bettina💬 "Go to the ends of the earth to see your dream through to the end." — Bettina💬 "Most people wait for a door.
